All Relief Society women, ages 18 years and older, are invited to join in the satellite broadcast of the General Relief Society Meeting at 6 p.m. (MDT) on Sept. 29 from the Conference Center in Salt Lake City. Addressing the program, with the theme, "Be Steadfast and Immovable," will be President Thomas S. Monson, first counselor in the First Presidency, along with members of the Relief Society general presidency.
In an Aug. 29, 2001, letter to General Authorities and local priesthood leaders, President Boyd K. Packer, acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve, wrote: "Where possible, those who attend are encouraged to meet together in chapels to view the broadcast. The local broadcast meeting will be under the direction of the stake or district presidency. The stake or district Relief Society presidency should be invited to sit on the stand."
The program will be broadcast via the Church satellite system to meetinghouses throughout the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and in Mexico, Central America and South America. It will also be available in the United States and Canada via BYUTV at 6 p.m. (MDT) and over LDS Radio Network. In Utah, the meeting will be shown over KBYU-TV (Channel 11) at 8 p.m. and will be broadcast over KBYU-FM Radio at 6 p.m. In addition, the general meeting will be broadcast over the Church satellite system to Europe and South Africa on Oct. 6 at 8 a.m. (MDT). The meeting can also be received via the Internet (audio and video, English only) at www.lds.org.
