RICHLAND, Wash. Hundreds of Church members and friends of other faiths gathered as families at the Kennewick Washington Stake Center Aug. 24-25 to join in a program, "Family Footsteps: A Temple Celebration," created as a missionary effort for Kennewick stake.
As the Columbia River Washington Temple enters its final phase of construction, an opportunity came for members of the stake to share with the community their feelings of gratitude and appreciation for temples before the temple open house this fall. (See announcement on page 2.)
Dean Moody, first counselor in the Kennewick stake presidency, said, "We want this program to reflect our profound gratitude to the Lord for blessing us with a temple in our area."
During the evening, the original script of narration and dramatization in "Family Footsteps" led the audience from temples in the Old World to temples in the New World and in this dispensation.
One of the program's highlights was the performance by a choir of an original anthem which was written for the Columbia River temple by Hugh Homer and set to music by Richard Williams. One friend of the Church described the performance as "awesome."
