"What a joy it is to stand before the priesthood and address the royal army of God." It is important that priesthood holders know they are sons of God, trying to return to the presence of Heavenly Father and learning to do their duty to God.

On Sept. 28, the First Presidency sent a letter to priesthood leaders in the United States and Canada to tell them of the program "Aaronic Priesthood: Fulfilling Our Duty to God." Scouting is an Aaronic Priesthood activity and the Duty to God Award is a priesthood award.

"We live in a very difficult era in the history of the world, when Satan is going to and fro on Earth among the children of God doing all manner of evil to thwart the desires of a righteous God."

The Duty to God Award will assist young men to meet challenges. Where available, Scouting can also help. All are encouraged to participate and are urged to do their best in the process.

"Young men, get on your knees each day and express to God the desires of your heart. . . . Read the scriptures daily. Strengthen your testimony. Pay tithes and offerings. Remember and keep the covenants you made when you were baptized."

One of the greatest gifts is the gift of the Holy Ghost. With that gift, anyone can have inspired guidance.

"Brethren of the Aaronic Priesthood, set you goals now and start working toward earning your Duty to God award and Eagle Scout award. You will be blessed for your efforts."
