And it came to pass that there was no contention in the land, because of the love of God which did dwell in the hearts of the people.

— 4 Nephi 1:15

"The key is to love our neighbor, including the neighbor that is difficult to love. We need to remember that though we make our friends, God has made our neighbors — everywhere. Love should have no boundary; we should have no narrow loyalties," said President Howard W. Hunter, then Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve, during the 1986 October general conference.

"It is a duty which every saint ought to render to his brethren freely — to always love them, and ever succor them. . . . These two virtues, love and service, are required of us if we are to be good neighbors and find peace in our lives."
