What is already a popular offering on Temple Square will be expanded for the benefit of visitors to the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in February.
The Temple Square Concert Series, ordinarily a weekend event, will present 46 morning, afternoon and evening concerts during 23 days at Temple Square to celebrate the 2002 Games. The free-admission concerts will consist of 17 concerts at 10 a.m., 17 at 4 p.m. and 12 at 7:30 p.m. All will be performed in the Assembly Hall on Temple Square. In keeping with standard concert protocol, children under 8 years will be encouraged to take in other events rather than attend the concerts.
Artists include pianists, violinists, vocalists, choral groups, chamber musicians and the 23rd Army Band of the Utah National Guard.
The concerts begin on Friday, Feb. 1, and will continue almost daily except Sundays until Feb. 23.
