CAMPINAS, Brazil Campinas Mayor Izalene Tiene toured the Campinas Brazil Temple construction site Jan. 16, and observed, "At this of so much violence, we need to be able to come to a place such as this. This temple lifts us to a higher state of spirituality."
The mayor was welcomed at the temple site by Elder Athos M. Amorim of the Seventy, president of the Brazil South Area, who was accompanied by Elders Jairo Mazzagardi and Flavio A. Cooper, Area Authority Seventies, and Raul Lins, supervisor of the temple construction in Brazil. Fernando Assis, director of public affairs in Brazil, also participated.
The mayor accepted an invitation from Sister Luiz Yabiku to tour the grounds of the temple site.
