Eight new mission presidents, called by the First Presidency, have been announced. The new leaders and their wives will begin service about July 1; their assignments will be announced later. The new leaders and their wives are:

Kathy and Kurt Alexander

Kurt Milo Alexander, 45, Livermore 2nd Ward, Livermore California Stake; chiropractor; bishop, former bishop's counselor, elders quorum president's counselor, missionary in the Argentina Cordoba Mission; born in Oakland, Calif., to Norvel E. and Jolayne Fairbanks Alexander. Married Kathy Robinson, six children.

She is the teacher improvement coordinator and formerly served as Young Women president, counselor in stake Young Women presidency, and counselor in ward Relief Society and Primary presidencies. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to George Baker and Thelda Pearl Critchfield Robinson.

Brad and Melanie Banks

Brad B. Banks, 46, South Jordan Country Park 5th Ward, South Jordan Utah Country Park Stake; vice president/owner, Intermountain Wood Products; stake high councilor, former counselor in stake Young Men presidency, bishop's counselor, Young Men president, Scoutmaster; born in Murray, Utah, to Benjamin Berry and Susan Kearnes Banks. Married Melanie Barker, three children.

She is education counselor in ward Relief Society presidency, and served as Cubmaster, Primary president and secretary and Young Women adviser. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Richard Alvin and Ramona May Hill Barker.

Sharee and Alan Bird

Alan M. Bird, 49, Springville Utah 3rd Ward, Springville Utah Stake; president, C.&A. Construction; high councilor in BYU 3rd Stake, former stake president's counselor, bishop, Young Men's president, stake missionary. Born in Payson, Utah, to George Ray and Helen Money Bird. Married Sharee Sumison, five children.

A ward Young Women president, she is a former stake Young Women president's counselor, Primary president, Relief Society president and stake camp director. Born in Payson, Utah, to Richard Mead and JoAnn Blackett Sumison.

Eric and Marian Gardner

K. Eric Gardner, 60, Salt Lake Holladay 26th Ward, Salt Lake Holladay Stake; CPA, investor, Tyco Capital Bank director; gospel doctrine teacher, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop and Young Men president; born in Cedar City, Utah, to Kumen and Naida Gillies Gardner. Married Marian V Andrews, eight children.

She is ward accompanist, and served as Young Women president, counselor in ward Young Women and Relief Society presidencies, and stake activities committee member. Born in Las Cruces, N.M., to Horace Michael and Vanetta Luzina Larsen Andrews.

Sheila and Garth Hanson

Garth A Hanson, 65, Rock Canyon Ward, Provo Utah Edgemont South Stake; BYU associate professor of organizational leadership and strategy; gospel doctrine teacher, former high councilor, stake executive secretary, bishop and counselor; born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Alfred Raymond and Harriet Viola Holland Hanson. Married Sheila Westover, four children.

She is a ward choir director and served as ward music chairman, stake Relief Society president's counselor, stake music chairman and Relief Society president. Born in Americans Falls, Idaho, to Ferrell Eugene and Ethel Taggart Westover.

Kenneth and Barbara Faye Hudson

Kenneth E. Hudson, 64, Plano 3rd Ward, Plano Texas Stake; program director at Raytheon; seminary teacher, former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop, multi-region welfare agent, stake mission leader; born in Pocatello, Idaho, to Clifford Donald and Ethel Josephine Evans Hudson. Married Barbara Faye Williams, five children.

She is ward family history consultant and temple ordinance worker, and has served as president of Relief Society, Primary and Young Women. She was born in Laurel, Miss., to John Malcolm and Barbara Jeanette Hooks Williams.

Nancy and Allan Thomas Pratt

Allan Thomas Pratt, 53, Kissimmee Ward, Orlando Florida South Stake; physician; stake president's counselor, former high councilor, seminary teacher, bishop and temple ordinance worker; born in Kemmerer, Wyo., to Alvero Massey and Olga Helen Stramadka. Married Nancy Ellen Rasmussen, eight children.

She is a ward Young Women president and has served as Relief Society and Primary president and counselor. She was born in Fort Lee, Va., to Ralph Waldo and Mary Ellen Ward Rasmussen.

Rand and Patrice Tolboe

H. Rand Tolboe, 52, Modesto 1st Ward, Modesto California North Stake; podiatric physician; seminary teacher and former stake president, bishop and counselor, elders quorum president and Young Men president. Born in Provo, Utah, to Harold Rand and Edna Jean Forsyth Tolboe. Married Patrice Whatcott, four children.

She works in medical billing, and is a counselor in Young Women presidency, and has served as Young Women president, ward and stake Relief Society president's counselor, Relief Society instructor and regional dance director. Born in Provo, Utah, to Harold J and Helen Jean Spencer Whatcott.
