Many Church members carried the Olympic torch, including the following:

Scott Stirling of the Jerome 4th Ward, Jerome Idaho Stake, was nominated for the care he offers his family, and his constant efforts to maintain his health.

Daniel Bryant, 18, of the Sunbow Ward, Canyon View Utah Stake in Cedar City, ran track in high school and is recognized for his leadership and motivational skills among peers. He has volunteered with the Utah Midsummer Renaissance Faire since age 12.

Lynn Marie Keller, Nevada 2nd Ward, Fallon Nevada Stake, is a cousin of L. Jay Silvester, a four-time discus thrower and silver medal winner.

Suzanne Gittins, BYU 94th Ward, BYU 12th Stake, volunteered at the Utah School for the Deaf in Ogden, Utah, and worked as a volunteer assistant and driver with the United States Olympics Committee during the Winter Olympics.

Earl Gillmore, 10th Ward, Salt Lake Park Stake, represented children in the hospital who were too sick or unable to carry the torch for themselves. His torch will be donated to Primary Children's Medical Center for permanent display in the Forever Young Zone. Earl is fighting liver disease.

Fred Lowry, Corner Canyon 4th Ward, Draper Utah Corner Canyon Stake, was nominated by his wife for his friendship and example exhibited to those at work, Church and community, and as a great father to his six children.

Randy Somsen and his son, Nate, of the Sugar City 6th Ward, Sugar City Idaho Stake, ran the torch in Pocatello, Idaho. Nate, 18, a senior at Sugar-Salem High School, was nominated by his friends for his two years of volunteer service at the local elementary school. Randy was nominated by his students at Brigham Young University-Idaho for his example.

Robert Wayne Broulim, Labell 3rd Ward, Rigby Idaho East Stake, was nominated to carry the Olympic torch for being a "David among Goliaths in the supermarket industry." He ran the torch in memory of his twin who was killed in an auto accident following his mission.
