Eight new mission presidents, called by the First Presidency, have been announced. The new leaders and their wives will begin service about July 1. They are:
Reinaldo and Glaucia Barreto
Reinaldo de Souza Barreto, 43, Rio de Janeiro Brazil Mission; Vila Sonia Ward, Sao Paulo Brazil Stake; controller, Church's Brazil Area Office; stake president and former counselor, stake mission president, high councilor and bishop; born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to Fernando and Cleonice de Souza Barreto. Married Glaucia Regina Caverni; three children.
She is stake music leader and has been Primary and Young Women president, and stake and ward Relief Society president's counselor. She was born in Campinas, Brazil, to Orlando and Loda Meneghesso Caverni.
Jacquelyn Gayle and Lawrence Corbridge
Lawrence E. Corbridge, 52, Chile Santiago North Mission; Granite 5th Ward, Sandy Utah Granite Stake; senior attorney and shareholder, Corbridge Baird & Christensen; teachers quorum adviser and former stake president, high councilor, bishop and gospel doctrine instructor; born in Moscow, Idaho, to Ivan Lawrence and Agnes Howe Corbridge. Married Jacquelyn Gayle Shamo; five children.
She is stake Relief Society president's counselor and former Young Women adviser, Primary and Relief Society presidents' counselor and Cub Scout leader. She was born in Boulder City, Nev., to Ned Joel and Luana Margie Linck Shamo.
David and Jennifer Ann Daines
David Rainey Daines Jr., 48, Guatemala Guatemala City Central Mission; Logan 28th Ward, Logan Utah East Stake; international agribusiness consultant; special assistant to Area Authority Seventy for Haiti, former regional representative, mission president's counselor, Young Men president and high priests group leader; born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to David Rainey and Lee Anne Coates Daines. Married Jennifer Ann Doan; six children.
She is a Relief Society teacher and former stake and ward Relief Society president and ward counselor, Primary teacher and Cub Scout leader. Born in Harlingen, Texas, to Virgil Lee and Sarah Ellen Jones Doan.
Reed and Eleanor Heywood
E. Reed Heywood, 62, California San Jose Mission; Teays Valley Ward, Charleston West Virginia Stake; physician, chairman of Ob-Gyn Department at Women and Children's Hospital; stake president's counselor, former stake mission president, bishop and counselor and high priests group leader; born in Panguitch, Utah, to Austin and Nellie Mandana Haycock Heywood. Married Eleanor Grimshaw; three children.
She is ward Relief Society president and has served as stake Relief Society president, ward Young Women president, accompanist and early morning seminary teacher. Born in Cedar City, Utah, to George Washington and Leona Armstrong Grimshaw.
Marlene and James Grey Larkin
James Grey Larkin, 64, Texas Lubbock Mission; Morningside 1st Ward, St. George Utah Morningside Stake; owner of L & L Mechanical Contractors; Area Authority Seventy, former stake president, Young Men president, bishop and stake Sunday School president's counselor; born in St. George, Utah, to Herman James and Montrue Grey Larkin. Married Marlene Wright; five children.
She is Relief Society compassionate service worker, and former Young Women president, Young Women adviser, stake girls camp director, and Lambda Delta Sigma adviser. She was born in Newhall, Calif., to Owen B. and Blanch Crandall Wright.
Martha and Neils Foster Ludlow
Niels Foster Ludlow, 62, Pennsylvania Harrisburg Mission; Thousand Oaks 4th Ward, Thousand Oaks California Stake; teacher and coach at El Camino Real High School; stake president's counselor and former high councilor, ward and stake Young Men president and bishop; born in Lake Shore, Utah, to Mark Jones and Alta Foster Ludlow. Married Martha S. Pickersgill; six children.
A seminary teacher, she is a former Primary teacher, Young Women and Relief Society president and Den Mother. She was born in Bristol, Pa., to Warren George and Martha Irene Lobley Pickersgill.
Roxanne and Hyde McCune Merrill
Hyde M. Merrill, 58, Argentina Rosario Mission; Schenectady Ward, Albany New York Stake; consulting engineer; Area Authority Seventy and former stake president, bishop and branch president. Born in Washington, D.C., to Eugene Hyde and Barbara McCune Muser Merrill. Married Roxanne Reid; four children.
She is a temple ordinance worker and former stake missionary, stake and ward Relief Society president and Primary music leader. She was born in Chicago, Ill., to Eldon Stringham and Elayne Warnock Reid.
Marvin Edgar and Janis Kay Turley
Marvin Edgar Turley, 56, Argentina Salta Mission; Hillcrest Ward, Mesa Arizona Citrus Heights Stake; president and CEO of Farnsworth Homes; stake president and former counselor, bishop and counselor; born in Winslow, Ariz., to Edgar Wayne and Mary Pearl Kutch Turley. Married Janis Kay Bentley; five children.
She is a counselor in the ward Young Women presidency, and has served as Primary teacher, nursery coordinator and Sunday School teacher. She was born in Tucson, Ariz., to Russell Gordon and Fern Hooper Bentley.
