Desiree Kraehenbuehl beat 1,200 competitors to win Swiss gymnastics championship. Her victory comes, in part, she said, because of her commitment to observe the Sabbath day and keep commandments.

ZURICH, Switzerland — Desiree Kraehenbuehl of the Zurich-Altstetten Ward, Zurich Switzerland Stake, recently beat 1,200 other competitors to win the national championship in gymnastics for a second consecutive year.

She feels her success is due, in part, to her commitment to keep the commandments and observe the Sabbath.

Her mother trained her and her sisters as well as 40 other young women in the area. The family was often away from home on weekends for competitions.

On Sundays they attended Church meetings in the nearest ward while teammates trained. Desiree feels the blessings of the Lord helped her overcome the loss in training time.

Desiree is also an accomplished violinist and good student. She is a Sunday School teacher and a young adult representative in her ward.
