"One of the great myths in life is when men think they are invincible." They see themselves as men of steel, but the course of life is often influenced by forces men only partly perceive.
"I suggest we learn from President Spencer W. Kimball's counsel: 'Develop discipline of self so that, more and more, you do not have to decide and redecide what you will do when you are confronted with the same temptation time and time again." Some may rationalize by thinking one fix of drugs won't hurt, one cigarette, one can of beer, the purchase of just one lottery ticket or one peek into a pornographic site on the Internet. But beware of the lurking danger.
"I have spoken at some length about things you don't want to happen to you. Now let's consider some of the good things that you do want to happen to you."
Men must recognize their gifts and abilities may be limited, but the Holy Ghost can augment that potential many fold.
"Your future may not hold fame or fortune, but it can be something far more lasting and fulfilling."
Many do not have a full awareness of what they know. They may not be fully aware of what the Lord has put in their "inward parts" and written "on our hearts." Young men of the covenant are heirs to great promises.
