MESA, Ariz. — Friends and family joined together April 2 at Camp Geronimo to dedicate a camp site in honor of Eric Driggs — an Eagle Scout who died while serving in the Argentina Resistencia Mission.
Elder Driggs died April 6, 2000, four days after the taxi in which he and his companion were riding collided with a truck. In his honor, a donor in the Grand Canyon Council of the Boy Scouts of America who wished to remain anonymous suggested a campsite be named in honor of Elder Driggs.
Roc Arnett, friend of the family and president of the Grand Canyon Council, unveiled the plaque situated on a stone monument along the path leading to the campsite. Quotes from Elder Driggs' missionary farewell address were included on the plaque.
Camp Geronimo is located about 90 miles north of Mesa in the mountains near the Mogollon Rim.
