Descendants of Joseph Smith Sr., and Lucy Mack Smith gathered near the well at Carthage Jail in Illinois on June 26 to lay a wreath in commemoration of the martyred brothers Joseph and Hyrum Smith. Patriarch Eldred G. Smith, great-great-grandson of Hyrum, and Lorena Normandeau, great-granddaughter of Joseph, moved the wreath to the heroic-size bronze statue of the brothers at the end of the brief ceremony.
