HEBER CITY, Utah Cael Sanderson, the only collegiate wrestler in history to go through his NCAA Division 1 career undefeated, was honored as a hometown hero during a two-day event Aug. 1-2. Utah Gov. Mike Leavitt declared Aug. 1 "Cael Sanderson Day" in Utah, a day on which Sanderson attended a banquet and the unveiling of a statue of himself on display in the gym at Wasatch High School where he graduated in 1998.
On Saturday, he received the key to the city where he grew up with his LDS family. He also joined in other activities and signed autographs in a city park.
Besides going undefeated at Iowa State University, he won four NCAA national championships.
