Because of high use, the first temple of the Church to utilize a new smaller design has been enlarged and will open again for public tours, beginning Saturday, Nov. 2.
The Monticello Utah Temple will be available for public viewing during an open house scheduled through Saturday, Nov. 9, except Sunday, Nov. 3.
The smaller temple concept was announced in 1997 to accommodate members in remote areas of the Church. Since then many new temples have been built, bringing the number of operating temples to 114 around the world.
At the conclusion of the open house, the temple will be closed to the public. The temple will be rededicated Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, in one session attended by members of the Church in the temple district.
The temple, located at 397 North 200 West in Monticello, was dedicated July 26, 1998.
