SALT LAKE CITY — About 120 young adults from the Cottonwood 17th Ward, Salt Lake Little Cottonwood Stake, gathered Dec. 7 to refurbish the home of a needy, widowed sister in the Salt Lake Valley.

The service project, organized by Tamara Uzelac, ward Relief Society president, has become something of a yearly event for the young adults. Using materials donated by stake members and local businesses, the young adults completed a variety of home repairs, including cleaning, painting and refinishing.

Young adults worked most of a Saturday, then hung new draperies and did a few other tasks after carpets were laid.

"Although the life of the widowed sister who owns the home was lifted, 120 young men and women will never be the same after their day of service," said Bishop Joseph B. Wirthlin Jr.
