"And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated."

Doctrine and Covenants 130:21

"Our prophets through the ages have instructed us as to the blessings that come by obedience to the will of the Lord," said Elder L. Tom Perry of the Quorum of the Twelve in the October 1994 general conference.

"President Joseph F. Smith has said: 'To please [the Lord] we must not only worship Him with thanksgiving and praise but render willing obedience to His commandments. By so doing, He is bound to bestow His blessings; for it is upon this principle (obedience to law) that all blessings are predicated.' "

Elder Perry added, "Obedience to gospel principles brings forth joy and happiness. Disobedience has a day of reckoning and will only bring forth heartache, misery, strife, and unhappiness."
