Relief Society General President Bonnie D. Parkin was honored Feb. 20 by the Salt Lake County Aggie Chapter of Utah State University. Sister Parkin, who earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Utah State University in Logan, Utah, was presented the 2003 Merit Citation Award at a reception at Hale Theater in Salt Lake City.
The citation, said Patty Halaufia, assistant director of the USU Alumni Association, recognizes "outstanding traits and leadership and character." Sister Parkin has served as Relief Society general president since April 2002. She is a former counselor in the Young Women general presidency and a member of the Relief Society general board. She also served with her husband, James L. Parkin, from 1997-2000 when he presided over the England London South Mission.
