SALT LAKE CITY — A recent article in USA TODAY noted how the Church "wrote the book" on food storage and emergency preparedness.

With terrorism alerts and a sense of uncertainty in the world, the article emphasized the growing sense among many in the country to prepare for disaster.

"It's not Doomsday, it's rainy day," said Dale Bills, spokesman for the Church, explaining the purpose of Church emergency preparedness.

The lengthy article recognized the Church for longtime efforts to prepare its members for the unforeseen challenges of life. It quoted members who told of their experience in preparing for times of need, and noted helpful resources such as a food calculator found on the new web site: www.providentliving.org.
