Despite the world's turmoil and financial troubles, the work of the church is moving forward. Missionary work continues across the globe, and the church's membership is constantly growing.

"We call upon every member of the church to reach out to new converts, to put your arms around them and make them feel at home. Bless them with your friendship. Encourage them with your faith. See that there are no losses among them."

The church is in good condition. Sacrament meeting attendance is consistent, the youths are strong, members are giving volunteer service, and they continue to pay tithing. The church did not use tithing funds to recently purchase a downtown Salt Lake City mall. The decision was made "to protect the immediate environs of the Salt Lake Temple."

The church is building chapels at a rate of about 400 per year and continues to build temples. Members are increasing their temple activity as well as their family preparedness and should continue to do so.

This conference marks the second anniversary of the Perpetual Education Fund, which is helping some 8,000 people receive training to increase their income by an average of four and a half times.

"Suffice it to say, the church is in good condition. . . . These are difficult times. The economy is struggling. There is conflict in the world. But The Almighty is keeping his promise that he will bless those who walk in faith and righteousness before him."
