Just as the Savior calmed the stormy Sea of Galilee when sailing with his disciples, the Savior can calm our souls and give us refuge in turbulent times.
While this is a time of evil, wickedness and war, the Savior's words can bring peace.
"And when ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet. If ye are prepared, ye shall not fear."
Through the still small voice, the Lord will protect, help and guide those who seek him.
"As parents and leaders we must remember that it is not meet that the Lord should command in all things. Like the brother of Jared, we must carefully consider the needs of our family members, make a plan to meet those needs and then take our plan to the Lord in prayer. This will require faith and effort on our part, but he will help us as we seek his assistance and do his will."
Latter-day Saints should obey the counsel of the living prophets to eliminate debt, store food, pay tithing, obtain an appropriate education and live the commandments. Children and grandchildren, who experience doubt and fear, will have peace when they see their parents continue to do what's right.
"By showing our faith through tribulation, we assure them that the fury of the adversary is not fatal. . . . In the school of mortality, the tutor is often pain and tribulation, but the lessons are meant to refine and strengthen, not destroy."
