The prophet's admonition for missionaries to "raise the bar" applies not only to those serving full time, but to all Latter-day Saints, who have been charged to help spread the gospel.
"If the standard is to be raised, it is raised for all of us. We must be more faithful. We must be more spiritually in tune. We must prepare ourselves to assist the missionaries in finding those of our Heavenly Father's children who will embrace the message of the Restoration."
The prospect of sharing the gospel with others can be challenging and sometimes frightening. But it can be accomplished by exercising faith, praying and asking for help in finding others with whom we can discuss gospel principles, and leading by example.
Missionary work is to be centered in wards, with full participation by the bishop and his counselors, the ward council, priesthood quorums, the Relief Society and other organizations. The church has provided many aids, including the "Finding Faith in Christ" DVD that was enclosed with current Ensign magazines.
"Missionary work does not require the development of strategies or gimmicks. It does require faith real faith and trust in the Lord. It also requires love."
People are seeking the true happiness that comes from knowing and loving the Savior and living in accordance with his teachings. Those served through missionary work are being offered this happiness through the fulness of the restored gospel.
