President Gordon B. Hinckley and President James E. Faust, both of the First Presidency, converse during the Saturday morning session of LDS General Conference. President Faust conducted that session.

Everyone in attendance, including the members of the Mormon Tabernacle choir, stands for a congregational hymn — and maybe a little stretch — during the Saturday morning session.

Conferencegoers were urged to get to the Conference Center early due to increased security — which included passing through metal detectors and bag checks.

Members of the Ostler family, who traveled from Albuquerque, N.M., for the event, brave the cold and rain to wait in line for standby tickets to the afternoon session of general conference Saturday. General conference continues Sunday with sessions at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Temperatures reached a chilly high of 39 degrees Saturday. Lows for the day dipped to 34. The high for today is expected to hit 42 degrees — with lows near 30.
