Three new mission presidents, called by the First Presidency, have been announced. They will begin their service about July 1.
Benedito Sergio Antunes dos Santos, 47, Brazil Porto Alegre North Mission; Embu das Artes Ward, Sao Paulo Brazil Parque Pinheiros Stake; former ward mission leader, teacher improvement coordinator, bishop, elders quorum president, stake president, counselor in mission presidency and missionary. Director of Institute in Church Educational System. Born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to Pedro and Maria Jose Pereira Antunes dos Santos. Married Jussara Oliveira, five children.
A teacher improvement coordinator, she is a former Sunday School teacher, ward Young Women president, ward Relief Society president, seminary teacher, institute teacher and missionary. Born in Arapongas, Brazil, to Manuel Francisco Oliveira Filho and Clarice Costa Oliveira.
Curtis Laverl Giles, 63, Haiti Port-au-Prince Mission; Deer Creek Ward, Midway Utah Stake; former counselor in stake presidency, high councilor, ward mission leader, ward Young Men president, bishop and missionary. President Wasco Credit Union. Born in Heber City, Utah, to Forrest Grant and Viola Sweat Giles. Married Ilene Michie, six children.
A counselor in Young Women presidency, she is a former Primary teacher, Relief Society president, Young Women adviser, stake Young Women president and ward Young Women president. Assistant manager of campus scheduling at BYU. Born in Midway, Utah, to George Kenneth and Yoma Esther Nelson Michie.
Michael LeRoy Hawkins, 52, Chile Concepcion South Mission; Stockdale Ward, Bakersfield California Stake; former Sunday School teacher, stake mission president, counselor in stake presidency, high councilor, bishop, stake executive secretary and missionary. President Millennium Energy. Born in Raymond, Wash., to Roy Williams and Bernice Elsie Hawkins. Married Iva Pearl Oliver, five children.
A ward Sunday School teacher, she is a former ward missionary, gospel doctrine teacher, ward Young Women president, counselor in ward Relief Society and Young Women adviser. Born in Perry, Fla., to Noah Albert and Vannie Earline Koslowski Oliver.
