Priesthood leaders around the world gathered June 21 to receive instruction from Church leaders in a special satellite training session that originated from the auditorium of the Church Office Building. Proceedings of this semi-annual broadcast were transmitted in 47 languages.

"We are men of different nations and different languages, but we are all servants of the living God, leaders of His Church. It is a glorious miracle that we are thus able to join together," said President Gordon B. Hinckley in his remarks.

"We now have some 350 or 400 new stake presidents every year. We have some 4,500 new bishops each year. Other officers are constantly rotating. New leaders must be trained, and some of the mature leaders may be inclined to say, 'I've heard it all before.'

"Well, repetition is a law of learning. No matter how long we have served, we need constant refreshing and exposure to new ideas and different faces, all designed to bring about a strengthening of the work."

In attendance were President Hinckley and his counselors, President Thomas S. Monson and President James E. Faust, and members of the Quorum of the Twelve, except Elder Dallin H. Oaks and Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, both on extended assignments in the Philippines and Chile, respectively. Elder Richard G. Scott was also away on assignment. President Boyd K. Packer, acting president of the Quorum of the Twelve, conducted the meeting.
