ACCRA, Ghana Mary Cartin Yates, U. S. Ambassador to Ghana, recently toured the construction site of the Accra Ghana Temple on Independence Avenue. Elder Sheldon H. Child of the Seventy and president of the Africa West Area hosted her visit July 24. The ambassador commented that she had "never seen anything so complex go up so quickly here in Ghana."
The ambassador was accompanied on her visit by William Rada, chief of general services, and her driver, Ebenezer Agyekum. They were impressed by the high quality standard of the workmanship in the temple. They also were impressed with the use of an African motif in the colorful stained glass and in the African wood paneling done by Bud Bailey and Associates from Salt Lake City.
