PENASQUITOS, Calif. — The first Chinese branch in San Diego County, the Penasquitos 5th Branch of the Penasquitos California Stake, was organized Dec. 29, 2003, almost a year after it first met as a group.

Since it began meeting on Jan. 6, 2003, branch attendance at sacrament meetings has grown to between 30 and 60 people, and there have been several convert baptisms.

Branch members have enjoyed branch events such as an excursion to the open house of the Redlands California Temple, in addition to picnics and beach parties, and commemorations of traditional Chinese cultural celebrations, such as the Chinese New Year and Midautumn Festival.
