Elder Vaughn J Featherstone, 72, who was injured Feb. 11 in a car accident in Star Valley, Wyo., has been released from the hospital, said Joseph M Featherstone, Elder Featherstone's son.

"He is at his own home recuperating. He's making great progress," Brother Featherstone said in a telephone conversation. "He's a remarkable man."

Brother Featherstone added that his father had undergone reconstructive surgery on his face "that went extremely well."

The General Authority emeritus, who has served as president of the Logan Utah Temple since September 2002, suffered a skull fracture and other injuries when the car he was driving struck two horses on U.S. Highway 89 two miles south of Afton. He was transported to LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, where he has been recovering. His wife, Merlene Miner Featherstone, who was with her husband, was treated for minor injuries at Star Valley Medical Center and released.

"She's doing fine," Brother Featherstone said, explaining that his mother just received a "bump on the head." He added that well-wishers from throughout the world have called the family, and that they are grateful for everyone's prayers and thoughtfulness. The family also expressed gratitude for the care Elder and Sister Featherstone received by Star Valley emergency personnel.
