FARMINGTON, Utah — A returned missionary from a well-known golf family has begun his rookie season on the elite 2004 Professional Golf Association tour.

Boyd Summerhays, 24, finished 25th at the recent PGA AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. He is a four-time American Junior Golf Association All-American and a three-time champion of the Junior World Tournament, according to PGAtour.com

He interrupted his golf career in 1998 to serve a Church mission to Argentina. He and his wife, Barbara, have one child, Preston. He is the nephew of Bruce Summerhays, a veteran on the PGA seniors tour.
