ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. A father-son duo earned first place in the Natural National Powerlifting Championships. David Oyler and son Michael, 11, of the Schaumburg Illinois Stake, competed in the Natural Athletes Strength Association because of its strict drug testing and family atmosphere for the lifters. In the February competition, Brother Oyler lifted a 716-pound deep squat, 424-pound bench press and 640-pound deadlift, setting a record for American and World Master (age 40 and above). Michael curled 61 pounds and achieved a 115-pound bench press and 203-pound deadlift.
It is the 14th year Brother Oyler has held the title, and the second for Michael.
