Eight new mission presidents, called by the First Presidency, have been announced. The new leaders and their wives will begin service about July 1. Assignments for all mission presidents were announced in the March 6, 2004, Church News. The new leaders and their wives are:

Debra and Brent Buckner
Brent LaMar Buckner, 53; Switzerland Zurich Mission; Solihull Ward, Coventry England Stake; ward mission leader; former high councilor, bishop, high priests group leader, gospel doctrine teacher and missionary in the Germany South Mission. Director for temporal affairs in Solihull, England. Born in Ogden, Utah, to Elmer LaMar and Melba Hale Buckner. Married Debra Ann MacPherson, six children.

A ward missionary, she is a former stake Relief Society and Young Women president, counselor in a stake Relief Society presidency, stake family history library trainer and ward Young Women president. Born in Trona, Calif., to Donald Earl and Nelda Marie Kidd MacPherson.

Julie and Michael Cottle
Michael Wade Cottle, 50; New Jersey Cherry Hill Mission; Winder 10th Ward, Salt Lake Winder Stake; former counselor in a stake presidency, bishop, counselor in a bishopric, high priests group leader and missionary in the Washington D.C. Mission. Seminary principal. Born in Tucson, Ariz., to Thomas Dean and Mary Lou Olsen Cottle. Married Julie Anne Barney, four children.

She is a former stake missionary, ward Young Women president and counselor in ward Relief Society, Young Women and Primary presidencies. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Donald J. and Lorna Millet Barney.

Ruth and Jerry Nelson
Jerry Lee Nelson, 59; Nigeria Enugu Mission; Bloomington Ward, Paris Idaho Stake; stake president; former high councilor, bishop, high priests group leader and temple ordinance worker. Accountant, retired USAF colonel. Born in Montpelier, Idaho, to Theo Christian and Norma Passey Nelson. Married Ruth Marie Thornock, three children.

She is a former stake Relief Society and Young Women president, counselor in a stake Relief Society presidency, district Primary president and temple ordinance worker. Born in Montpelier, Idaho, to Ronald and Cerelda Abigail Payne Thornock.

Barbara and Stanford Owen
Stanford Browning Owen, 60; Nigeria Uyo Mission; Parleys 6th Ward, Salt Lake Parleys Stake; counselor in a bishopric; former stake Sunday School president, stake mission president, high councilor, bishop and missionary in the Swiss Mission. Attorney. Born in Evanston, Ill., to Gordon Parker and Nevada Browning Owen. Married Barbara Butters, seven children.

A Sunday School teacher and Relief Society enrichment leader, she is a former ward Young Women and Primary president, counselor in ward Relief Society and Primary presidencies and Lambda Delta Sigma area and chapter adviser. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Robert Kenneth and Lucy Marchant Butters.

Debra and Lon Packard
Lon Dale Packard, 52; Chile Santiago West Mission; Holladay 27th Ward, Salt Lake Holladay South Stake; former high councilor, bishop, ward Young Men president, high priests group leader and missionary in the Ecuador Mission. Attorney. Born in Boise, Idaho, to Jay Leander and Florence Harietta Serracino Packard. Married Debra Finley, six children.

A Young Women adviser, she is a former counselor in a stake Relief Society presidency, ward Relief Society, Young Women and Primary president and ward activities committee chairman. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Clifford Glen and Nina Ruth Kimball Finley.

Brad and Elaine Risenmay
Brad Kaye Risenmay, 55; Utah Salt Lake City South Mission; Othello 3rd Ward, Othello Washington Stake; counselor in a mission presidency; former stake president, high councilor, bishop, ward Young Men president and missionary in the Holland Mission. Co-owner of Sloan-Leavitt Insurance. Born in Shelley, Idaho, to Howard Leon and Verda Pugmire Risenmay. Married Elaine Gilbert, six children.

A counselor in a ward Relief Society presidency, she is a former ward Young Women and Primary president, counselor in ward Young Women and Primary presidencies and ward Young Women camp director. Born in Roosevelt, Utah, to Garn L. and Barbara Lusty Gilbert.

Eugene and Alison Shawcroft
Nathan Eugene Shawcroft, 44; Brazil Campinas Mission; Jordan Oaks 5th Ward, West Jordan Utah Jordan Oaks Stake; counselor in stake presidency; former high councilor, bishop, counselor in a bishopric, elders quorum president and missionary in the Portugal Lisbon Mission. Assistant general manager for the Central Utah Water Conservancy District. Born in Alamosa, Colo., to Gary Reese and Ethel Marie Clair Shawcroft. Married Alison Tuckett, four children.

A Cub Scout leader, she is a former counselor in a ward Young Women presidency, Young Women adviser, ward Relief Society secretary, Primary chorister and Primary teacher. Born in Provo, Utah, to Glen Cameron and Josephine Mary Whittaker Tuckett.

Janice and John Taylor
John Richard Taylor, 46; Mexico Monterrey North Mission; Granite 15th Ward, Sandy Utah Granite South Stake; area public affairs council and high councilor; former bishop, counselor in a bishopric, ward Young Men president, elders quorum president and missionary in the Spain Seville Mission. Vice president at Intermountain Health Care. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Amos Neff and Margaret Mae Cockrell Taylor. Married Janice Pollei, four children.

A ward Relief Society president, she is a former stake Primary president, counselor in a ward Young Women presidency, Primary teacher, choir director and Sunday School teacher. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ralf Lambert and Thelma Laree Mason Pollei.
