Tabernacle Choir performs with Utah Symphony at Independence Day celebration. Choir's 75-year anniversary broadcast is this month.

CBS News correspondent Charles Osgood, who helped kick off the the celebration last July during a concert held at New York City's Lincoln Center, will be the featured guest for a gala concert on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and for the anniversary broadcast of "Music and the Spoken Word" the next day at its regular time, 9:30 a.m. Craig Jessop, music director of the choir, and Mack Wilberg, associate music director, will conduct the choir and the Orchestra at Temple Square.

"We are absolutely thrilled and honored to have Mr. Osgood join us once again for performances here in Salt Lake City," Brother Jessop said. "He is a dear friend of the choir, and his presence on the concert and the anniversary broadcast will be the icing on the cake for these gala festivities."

Admission is free to both the concert and the broadcast, but tickets are required. As of July 6, tickets were still available for both events at the Conference Center Ticket Office (inside door 4) or by logging onto www.lds.org/events.

A limited number of tickets are being held for former members of the choir and the Orchestra at Temple Square. They can be obtained by calling the Conference Center Ticket Office at 801-240-0080 and verifying prior choir or orchestra membership.

As part of the festivities surrounding these anniversary celebrations, the choir is anxious to identify the oldest living former choir member and, in particular, any living choir members who might have sung on the original 1929 broadcast. Individuals with information are asked to call the choir office at 801-240-4150.

This anniversary year of events began with a tour of the northeastern United States last July and has included presentation of the National Medal of Arts by U.S. President George W. Bush last Nov. 12, and the radio program's induction into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame of the National Association of Broadcasters on April 20 of this year. Several appearances have also been made by the choir, the latest of which was an Independence Day celebration on July 2, wherein the choir performed with the Utah Symphony at the USANA Amphitheater in West Valley City, Utah.
