And the office of their ministry is to call men unto repentance, and to fulfil and to do the work of the covenants of the Father, which he hath made unto the children of men, to prepare the way among the children of men, by declaring the word of Christ unto the chosen vessels of the Lord, that they may bear testimony of him. — Moroni 7:31

My companion and I, as missionaries in Samoa, were on our way to present a family home evening to a family of six with whom we had come in contact by following telephone poles through the jungle. We had a wonderful program organized with a video to watch and testimonies to bear.

As that evening unfolded, nothing turned out the way it was planned. For a full hour we had a discussion about the works of Christ throughout all time. It went pretty well, considering that they were among the tiny percentage of non-Christians in Samoa.

My companion and I returned home not knowing the outcome of what had just taken place. I personally was very worried that we had not done all we should have to bear witness of our Savior.

During my prayer that night, I asked for a witness of the Spirit to tell me that our actions were in accordance with the Lord's desires. I retired to my bed peaceful, but not satisfied.

We had our companionship study the next morning and began to talk about what had happened the night before. As we were talking, we turned to Moroni 7:31 and read the scripture together.

The Spirit swelled within my soul, so much that even I, a 20-year-old, could not hold back the tears from my eyes as I said to my companion, "We did this last night."

He replied, with tears in his eyes, "We need to do it more." — Elder Johnny Gonda, Samoa Apia Mission
