Michael Andraszcyk of the Laguna Niguel 1st Ward, Laguna Niguel California Stake, won two medals at the National Junior Olympics Track and Field Championships in July. Competing in the Boys Division (ages 13-14) at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field, he captured the gold medal in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:01.18, and the silver in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:16.86. Those results qualify him for consideration when the Junior National Team is selected to compete at the World Games in Morocco next summer.
With his most recent acquisitions in the 800 and 1500, Michael has won 10 medals in national competitions including five golds and three silvers.
Michael, the son of Mark and Cathy Andraszcyk, recently graduated from Aliso Viejo Middle School where he competed in athletics while maintaining a 3.8 grade point average. Michael's goals for the future include maintaining athletic and academic excellence, earning the Eagle Scout award and serving a mission.
