And as they looked to behold they cast their eyes towards heaven, and they saw the heavens open, and they saw angels descending out of heaven as it were in the midst of fire; and they came down and encircled those little ones about, and they were encircled about with fire; and the angels did minister unto them. 3 Nephi 17:24
While I was waiting to enter and clean the children's area of the Ogden Utah Temple, a hurried father carrying his small son exited the room. I looked down the hall after them in time to see a sweet child give an unaware father a tender kiss on the cheek.
The process of cleaning the children's area includes erasing a small chalkboard. On this chalkboard were the words:
"I love dad and mom
I hav o toda temple."
There was also a building which was easy to identify as a temple, a half-dozen clouds and five stick figures. The figures were in a line and they appeared to be looking through the opening in the clouds at the temple.
The thought of 3 Nephi 17:24 became clear to me. That day in the temple, this small Florida family, who had moved to Pennsylvania and then to Utah, was experiencing the greatest move of their mortal life. It was as though they "saw the heavens open," and "the angels did minister unto them."
May we all be "in the midst of fire" when the angels minister to us.
