Endurance is a basic tenet of the gospel and can determine the quality of life on this Earth and in the eternities. The Savior expects his children to press on, despite the challenges of life.

"Enduring to the end means that we have planted our lives firmly on gospel soil, staying in the mainstream of the church, humbly serving our fellowmen, living Christ-like lives and keeping our covenants. Those who endure are balanced, consistent, humble, constantly improving and without guile. Their testimony is not based on social reasons, it is based on truth, knowledge, experience and the Spirit.

Obstacles to endurance include things such as pride, the "deceitfulness of riches," and lust after other things, such as pornography. "The plague of pornography is swirling about us as never before. (It) results in vicious fruits of immorality, broken homes and broken lives. . . . I plead with you to be careful and cautious."

"No one is immune from Satan's influence and temptations. Do not be so proud to think that you are beyond the adversary's influence. Be watchful that you do not fall prey to his deceptions. Stay close to the Lord through daily scripture study and prayer."

Three keys to successfully enduring life's trials are testimony that gives an eternal perspective; humility that recognizes reliance on the Lord for assistance; and repentance to allow a return to the path leading to eternal life.
