SIMI VALLEY, Calif. Members of the Santa Susana 2nd Ward Relief Society, Simi Valley California Stake, have been busy with several humanitarian projects. For the last three to four years, they have sent clothing and school supplies to the Foster Children of Ventura County. Some 50 school supply kits have also been sent to LDS Humanitarian Service Center, and quilts have been sent to Deseret Industries.
Projects are ongoing, and as of Oct. 24, some 715 knitted hats had been donated to foster children and to the homeless in Simi Valley, to the Ventura County Medical Center and to hospitals for babies. These hats have been knitted by Relief Society sisters, as well as young men and young women. One sister who has made 341 hats is 92-year-old Pat Brand that is some 30 hats a week.
