Eight new mission presidents, called by the First Presidency, have been announced. The new leaders and their wives will begin service about July 1. Their assignments will be announced later. The new leaders and their wives are:

Michael and Kathleen Bertasso
Michael Jon Bertasso, 55; Singapore 1st Ward, Singapore Singapore Stake; CES supervisor and high councilor; former temple ordinance worker, counselor in a mission presidency, bishop, elders quorum president and missionary in the Brazil North Mission. President of Heinz Asia Pacific. Born in Caldwell, Idaho, to Robert Fredrick Sr. and Irene Mary Rinker Bertasso. Married Kathleen Ursenbach, seven children.

The stake Relief Society president, Sister Bertasso is a former temple ordinance worker, stake and ward Young Women president, stake Young Women camp director and ward Relief Society president. Born in Murray, Utah, to Wayne Octave and Bernice Ohlin Ursenbach.

James and Jane Bowden
James Alvin Bowden, 56; Carmel Ward, Charlotte North Carolina South Stake; gospel doctrine teacher; former stake president, high councilor, high priests group leader, elders quorum president and missionary in the Great Lakes Mission. Retired executive vice president and CFO of J.A. Jones Inc. Born in Vernal, Utah, to Alvin George and Erva Kirk Bowden. Married Jane Ruth Taylor, five children.

Sister Bowden is a former counselor in stake and ward Young Women presidencies, ward Young Women and Primary president and Relief Society enrichment leader. Born in Phoenix, Ariz., to Walter Kenneth and Virginia Mae Mortensen Taylor.

Liane and Victor Da Silva
Victor Afranio Asconavieta Da Silva, 49; Areal Ward, Pelotas Brazil North Stake; bishop; former stake president and counselor, high councilor, branch president and missionary in the Brazil Sao Paulo South Mission. Former president of Caixa Pensoes Servidores Mun. Pelotas. Born in Sant'ana do Livramento, Brazil, to Francisco Nunes and Suzy Asconavieta Gomes Da Silva. Married Liane Beatriz Burmann Terra, five children.

A counselor in the ward Young Women presidency, Sister Da Silva is a former stake and ward Relief Society president and counselor, and ward Young Women president. Born in Ijui, Brazil, to Beno Orlando and Diva Terra Burmann.

Russell and Karen Gilliland
Russell Stewart Gilliland, 56; Independence Ward, Phoenix Arizona West Maricopa Stake; former sealer and temple ordinance worker, area adviser, stake president, high priests group leader and missionary in the Austria Mission. Retired as president of Gilliland Corporation. Born in Morenci, Ariz., to Howard Russell and Ruth Eileen Stewart Gilliland. Married Karen Jones, 10 children.

A stake seminary supervisor, Sister Gilliland is a former ward Relief Society, Young Women and Primary president, activities committee chairman and seminary teacher. Born in American Fork, Utah, to Karl Gerber and Ramona Hunsaker Jones.

Marie and Ronald Godfrey
Ronald S Godfrey, 56; North Logan 9th Ward, North Logan Utah Stake; counselor in the presidency of the Logan Utah University 1st Stake; former stake president, stake mission president, bishop, counselor in a ward Young Men presidency and missionary in the British Mission. Retired vice president of business and finance at Utah State University. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to William Rex and Jean Berniece Paxton Godfrey. Married Marie Beutler, seven children.

A Relief Society teacher and assistant stake Young Women camp director, Sister Godfrey is a former counselor in a stake Relief Society presidency, stake music chairman, ward Relief Society president and counselor in a ward Primary presidency. Born in Logan, Utah, to Wallace Alfred and Ida Andrus Beutler.

Debra and Richard Hutchinson
Richard Craig Hutchison, 50; Murray 15th Ward, Murray Utah Parkway Stake; stake executive secretary and gospel doctrine teacher; former stake and ward Young Men president, high councilor, bishop and missionary in the Brazil Porto Alegre Mission. Part owner of HCH Transportation Advisors. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Clarence Richard and Darlene Chidester Hutchison. Married Debra Ann Strong, four children.

A counselor in the ward Relief Society presidency, Sister Hutchison is a former counselor in ward Young Women and Primary presidencies, Young Women adviser, Sunday School teacher and multi-stake dance director. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Kline Duncan and Suzanne Brinton Strong.

Michael and Amy Lindstrom
Michael R Lindstrom, 47; Boise 6th Ward, Boise Idaho East Stake; former counselor in a stake presidency, high councilor, bishop, counselor in a bishopric and missionary in the Argentina Rosario Mission. Tax partner at Eide Bailly. Born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Maurice and Connie Ashment Lindstrom. Married Amy A Zobell, four children.

A ward Relief Society president, Sister Lindstrom is a former stake Young Women president, counselor in ward Relief Society, Young Women and Primary presidencies and gospel doctrine teacher. Born in Lewiston, Mont., to Rex Scholes and Bernice Poppleton Gunnell Zobell.

Peggy and Mark Woodruff
Mark Ballif Woodruff, 50; Oak Hills 2nd Ward, Provo Utah Oak Hills Stake; high priests group leader; former stake clerk, bishop, counselor in a bishopric, elders quorum president and missionary in the Brazil Sao Paulo South Mission. Manager of Training Services at the Provo Missionary Training Center. Born in Wiesbaden, Germany, to Nathan Howard and Glenna Carlsen Woodruff. Married Peggy Marie Petersen, six children.

A counselor in the stake Relief Society presidency, Sister Woodruff is a former counselor in a stake Primary presidency, ward Relief Society president and counselor, ward Primary president and missionary in the Texas San Antonio Mission. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Max Stewart and Virginia Barbara Haake Petersen.
