DENVER, Colo. Torben Walters, a priest in the LaJunta Ward, Pueblo Colorado Stake, became only the 13th wrestler in Colorado to win four individual high school state championships with his finals victory on Feb. 12. Wrestling at 189 pounds, he defeated the No.1-ranked sophomore in the nation to win his latest Class 2A gold medal.
Torben also set a new Colorado high school record for career victories with 163 wins and only three losses in his four years. He is a senior at Crowley County High School and has accepted a full-ride wrestling scholarship from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colo. He plans to wrestle his freshman year and then serve a full-time mission.
