Eight new mission presidents, called by the First Presidency, have been announced. The new leaders and their wives will begin service about July 1. Assignments mission presidents were announced in the Feb. 26, 2005, issue of the Church News.

Scott Douglas Farrell, 54; Honduras Tegucigalpa Mission; Anaheim 10th Ward, Anaheim California East Stake; counselor in the stake presidency; former stake and ward Young Men president and missionary in the Argentina South Mission. Optometrist. Born in Ogden, Utah, to Glen Lorenzo and Norma Cross Farrell. Married Janis Elizabeth Johnson, three children.

A counselor in the stake Young Women presidency, Sister Farrell is a former counselor in stake and ward Relief Society presidencies and stake public affairs director. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Jay Hill and MaryJane Egan Johnson.

James Phillip Freestone, 58; Mexico Puebla Mission; Cascade 2nd Ward, Orem Utah Cascade Stake; former counselor in stake presidencies, stake Young Men president, bishop and missionary in the Brazilian South Mission. Physician. Born in Mesa, Ariz., to James Russell and Virginia Hunter Freestone. Married Elizabeth Ogden, six children.

A counselor in the stake Primary presidency, Sister Freestone is a former stake Young Women secretary, counselor in ward Relief Society and Young Women presidencies and Cubmaster. Born in Richfield, Utah, to Ralph Gerald and LuJeanne Christensen Ogden.

Richard James Hogan Sr., 48; Mexico Torreon Mission; Spring Creek Ward, Klein Texas Stake; gospel doctrine teacher; former bishop and missionary in the Uruguay Montevideo Mission. Sales and marketing specialist at Emerson Process Management. Born in Orange, Calif., to Millard Junior and Betty Jean Shepherd Hogan. Married Amy Nielsen, six children.

A counselor in the stake Young Women presidency, Sister Hogan is a former counselor in stake and ward Relief Society presidencies and ward Relief Society, Young Women and Primary president. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Cyrus Otto and Neva Thomas Nielsen.

Theodore Marshall Jacobsen, 64; England Manchester Mission; Yalecrest 1st Ward, Salt Lake Bonneville Stake; chairman of the board of the PCC, regional welfare agent and Sunday School teacher; former stake president, bishop and missionary in Northern Scottish Mission. Chairman of the board of Jacobsen Construction Company Inc. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Leo Martin and Rosebud Marshall Jacobsen. Married Charlotte Garff, seven children.

The ward Relief Society president, Sister Jacobsen is a former stake Relief Society president, ward Young Women and Primary president and Relief Society teacher. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Mark Brimhall and Gertrude Laura Ryberg Garff.

Moises Mercado Mabunga Jr., 58; Philippines Davao Mission; Pinnacle Ward, Las Vegas Nevada South Stake; counselor and missionary in the Philippines Davao Mission; former temple ordinance worker, stake Young Men president, bishop and missionary in the Southern Far East Mission.
