Eight new mission presidents, called by the First Presidency, have been announced. The new leaders and their wives will begin service about July 1. Mission presidents' assignments were announced in the Feb. 26, 2005, issue of the Church News.

Kenneth Earl Brailsford, 60; South Carolina Columbia Mission; Park 6th Ward, Orem Utah Park Stake; special assistant to the president of the Utah Provo Mission; former counselor in a stake presidency, stake clerk, bishop and missionary in the Georgia Atlanta Mission and in the West German Mission. Former general partner of KEB Enterprises. Born in Niagara Falls, N.Y., to Robert Earl and Freeda Webster Brailsford. Married Linda Hughes, six children.

A Relief Society teacher, Sister Brailsford is a former temple ordinance worker, counselor in a stake Young Women presidency and missionary in the Georgia Atlanta Mission. Born in Bakersfield, Calif., to Robert Earl and Dorris Dixon Hughes.

Carl Riley Faulkner, 58; Chile Osorno Mission; Cedar Pass 1st Ward, Eagle Mountain Utah Stake; stake president; former counselor in a stake presidency, high councilor and missionary in the Colorado-New Mexico Mission. Partner at Sonora Development. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Charles Huston and Dortha Taylor Faulkner. Married Catherine Ann Smith, seven children.

Sister Faulkner is a former counselor in stake and ward Young Women and Primary presidencies and Relief Society enrichment leader. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Douglas H. and Barbara Jean Bradshaw Smith.

Juan Adhemar Garcia V., 54; Dominican Republic Santo Domingo East Mission; Central Ward, Tarija Bolivia Stake; stake president; former counselor in stake and district presidencies, high councilor and institute instructor. Zone supervisor for the Church. Born in Cochabamba, Bolivia, to Elda Vargas Sejas. Married Susana Gutierrez E., five children.

A stake employment specialist, Sister Garcia is a former ward Young Women and Primary president, gospel essentials teacher and institute instructor. Born in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, to Pedro Gutierrez Cruz and Andrea Espinosa Torrilo Gutierrez.

Lester Floyd Johnson, 50; Mexico Veracruz Mission; Juarez 1st Ward, Colonia Juarez Mexico Stake; former stake president, high councilor, bishop, Scoutmaster and missionary in the Southeast Mexico Mission. Owner and operator of orchards. Born in Colonia Juarez, Mexico, to LeRoy and Rita Skousen Johnson. Married Debra Gail Kobylarz, five children.

A Primary teacher, Sister Johnson is a former ward Young Women president, Relief Society and Primary teacher and Relief Society enrichment leader. Born in Paterson, N.J., to Emil Joseph Kobylarz and Marjorie Marian DenHerder Mondrone.

Jose Felix Lara C., 50; Ecuador Quito Mission; Bolivar Ward, Quevedo Ecuador South Stake; counselor in the bishopric; former stake president, stake executive secretary, high councilor and missionary in the Ecuador Guayaquil Mission. Alain Andre Jean-Baptiste Petion, 53; Canada Montreal Mission; Torcy Ward, Paris France East Stake; national public affairs director; former Area Authority Seventy, stake president and missionary in the England East Mission.
