SALT LAKE CITY Scott S. Parker has been inducted into the prestigious Philadelphia-based Health Care Hall of Fame. Brother Parker was president of the Bountiful Utah Central Stake, served as president of the New York New York North Mission, and is currently the Church's director of public affairs for the Salt Lake City area.
He was the president of Intermountain Health Care (IHC) from 1975 until his retirement in 1998. He was selected to lead IHC in 1975 when the non-profit health system was formed after the Church divested its hospital operations. Under his direction IHC developed into an integrated health system with hospitals, health insurance plans, and employed physicians. IHC has since been named the country's top integrated system five of the past six years and is considered a national model. Founded in 1988, the Hall of Fame has 72 members, with two individuals added this year.
