New leaders for areas have been announced by the First Presidency. The changes are effective Aug. 15, 2005.
Released as area president of the Europe Central Area is Elder L. Tom Perry of the Quorum of the Twelve, who will return to responsibilities in Salt Lake City.
In addition, the Australia/New Zealand Area and the Pacific Islands Area have been realigned to the Australia Area, and the New Zealand/Pacific Islands Area. The Micronesia Guam Mission was transferred to the Asian North Area. The change was announced to priesthood leaders in a letter from the First Presidency on April 19, 2005.
As initiated in 2004, area leadership in the United States will be provided by the Presidency of the Seventy.
Elder Earl C. Tingey will supervise the North America East and North America Northeast areas, Elder D. Todd Christofferson will supervise the North America Southeast Area, Elder Charles Didier will supervise the North America Southwest Area, Elder Merrill J. Bateman will supervise the Utah North, Utah Salt Lake City and Utah South areas, Elder Robert C. Oaks will supervise North America Central Area, Elder Neil L. Andersen will supervise the Idaho Area, and Elder Ronald A. Rasband will supervise the North America Northwest and North America West Areas.
All of the presidencies are from the General Authority Seventy or Area Seventy quorums. (* Area Seventy)
