Family: Born Feb. 28, 1940, to Johann and Berta Starbati Paul; married Helga Klappert on April 2, 1964, in the Bern Switzerland Temple; children, Kerstina (Andreas) Metzner, Tobias (Lydia) and Gilbert (Amy).

Employment: Government officer in Germany; numerous managerial and administrative positions for Church, including director of temporal affairs in Europe.

Education: German Federal Government Administration Academy.

Church service: Area Seventy where he served as second counselor in Europe East and Central areas, regional representative, mission president, two time counselor in a stake presidency, bishop, elders quorum president and missionary.
