One new temple president and matron have been announced by the First Presidency.

Ruth G. Evans and Alvie R. Evans
Alvie Ransom Evans Sr., 62, of the North Charleston Ward, Charleston South Carolina Stake, called as president of the Columbia South Carolina Temple, succeeding William R. Simpson. President Evans' wife, Ruth Groves Evans, will serve as temple matron. President Evans is a temple ordinance worker and Sunday School teacher, and former stake president, regional representative and Area Authority Seventy. He is retiring as a contractor and land developer. He was born at Charleston, S.C., to Thomas M. and Gertrude G. Evans.

Sister Evans is a former seminary teacher, Relief Society, Young Women and Primary president. She was born in Charleston, S.C., to Ira E. and Virginia T. Groves.
