Five newly called temple presidents and matrons have been announced by
the First Presidency.
Eileen and Ted Dahl
Lawrence Theodore Dahl Jr., 72, of
Corvallis Ward, Stevensville Montana Stake, called to the Bogota Colombia
Temple, succeeding President Roberto Rubio. Elder Dahl's wife,
Eileen McCann Dahl, will serve as temple matron.
President Dahl, a ward mission leader, is an ordinance worker at the
Spokane Washington Temple and was president of the Argentina Buenos Aires
South Mission from 1980-1983, former stake president, bishop and missionary
in Argentina. A retired Latin America field service engineer for
Caterpillar Inc., he was born in Murray, Utah, to Lawrence T. and Lois
Gardner Dahl.
Sister Dahl, a ward Relief Society president and temple ordinance
worker, is a former mission Young Women president, stake Primary president
and stake Relief Society president, temple worker and missionary in
Argentina. She was born in Entre Rios, Argentina, to James G. and Isabel N.
Rennison McCann.
Betty and Kenneth Dutile
Vernon Kenneth Dutile, 63, of the
Natchitoches Ward, Alexandria Louisiana Stake, called as president of the
Baton Rouge Louisiana Temple, succeeding President D. Gregory Brumfield.
President Dutile's wife,
Betty Grappe Dutile,
will serve as temple matron. President Dutile is the president of the
Alexandria Louisiana Stake and a former stake president's counselor, high
councilor, bishop's counselor and bishop. A retired superintendent of
schools, he was born in Natchitoches, La., to Vernon Peter and Ruby Lee
Beason Dutile.
Sister Dutile, a ward Relief Society education counselor, is a former
stake Relief Society counselor, ward Relief Society president and
counselor, ward Young Women president's counselor and Primary teacher. She
was born in Natchitoches, La., to Willie Christopher and Nettie Mims
Grappe.
Richard and Jeannine George
Richard Riley George, 61, of the
Cobble Creek 2nd Ward, Cobble Creek Utah Stake, called as president of the
Asuncion Paraguay Temple, succeeding President John J. Whetten. President
George's wife,
Jeannine Evans George, will
serve as temple matron. President George is a Church-service missionary in
the Inner City Project in Salt Lake City, and a former mission president,
stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop's counselor and bishop.
He is a retired Church Educational System coordinator. He was born in
Seattle, Wash., to Floyd N. and Mabel Busha Patterson George.
Sister George is a Church-service missionary and a former stake and ward
Relief Society counselor, ward Young Women president and adviser, Primary
president, Relief Society teacher and institute instructor. She was born in
Ogden, Utah, to Preston D. and Dorothy Martin England Evans.
Anne and Charles Parsons
Charles Parsons, 72, of the Modbury
Ward, Adelaide Australia Modbury Stake, called as president of the Adelaide
Australia Temple, succeeding President Thomas F. Hooper. President Parsons'
wife,
Anne Lorraine Stevenson Parsons, will
serve as temple matron. President Parsons is a temple president's counselor
and a former stake president's counselor, high councilor, bishop, bishop's
counselor and seminary teacher. He is a retired cabinet maker and builder.
He was born in Sydney, Australia, to Herbert Roy and Alice Morley Parsons.
Sister Parsons is an assistant to the matron, and a former stake and
ward Relief Society counselor, ward Young Women and Primary president,
seminary teacher and a Church-service missionary with her husband in New
Zealand. She was born in Burnie, Tasmania, Australia, to Frank Leonard and
Ellen Lorraine Newman Stevenson.
Richard and Helen Wells
Richard Woolley Wells, 72, of the
Soundview Ward, Tacoma Washington South Stake, called as president of the
Suva Fiji Temple, succeeding President Orlo K. Spencer. President Wells'
wife,
Helen Beckstrand Wells, will serve as
temple matron. President Wells is a full-time missionary at the Suva Fiji
Temple, and a former regional representative, president of the Australia
Adelaide Mission, stake president and bishop. He is a retired self-employed
real estate developer. He was born in St. George, Utah, to Robert and Zella
Earl Stephen Wells.
Sister Wells, also a full-time missionary in the Suva Fiji Temple, is a
former stake Young Women president, ward Young Women and Relief Society
president's counselor, seminary teacher, and ordinance worker in the
Seattle Washington Temple. She was born in Meadow, Utah, to Melvin H. and
Virginia Hinckley Beckstrand.
