BOISE, Idaho The combined Boise Institute Choirs 220 in number performed "Joseph Smith The Prophet" during two performances on June 25. The combined 22-stake performance celebrated the 200th birthday of Joseph Smith and 175th anniversary of the restoration of the Church in a musical composed by Rob Gardner. Two separate audiences filled the Borah High School Auditorium here.
Music by the choir and portrayals of Joseph Smith, John Taylor, Emma Smith, Lucy Mack Smith, Martin Harris, David Whitmer, Oliver Cowdery and Mary Fielding Smith stirred both audiences to call for encore numbers.
The choirs had been rehearsing since mid-May and have subsequently been invited to perform in Eagle, Nampa and Caldwell, Idaho, and in Ontario, Ore. They will be holding an encore performance Dec. 23 in Boise.
