Amelia Smith McConkie, 89, widow of Elder Bruce R. McConkie and daughter of the late President Joseph Fielding Smith, died Sept. 22, 2005, in Salt Lake City. Sister McConkie served by her husband's side during his nearly 39 years as a General Authority, including nearly 13 years as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve. She also served with him from 1961-1964 when he presided over the Southern Australian Mission. In addition, Sister McConkie was a former stake and ward Relief Society president. Elder and Sister McConkie had nine children. At the time of her death, Sister McConkie had 59 grandchildren and 89 great-grandchildren.
