SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. San Francisco Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White paid an unannounced visit to thank the Sunset Ward for its successful hosting of Neighborhood Emergency Response Training classes for her department. About 150 people from the ward and community attended what she called an "unusually large" class. She added her words of support for civilian preparedness.
In light of recent disasters with the tsunami in Southeast Asia and the hurricanes in the United States, the ward of the San Francisco California West Stake saw a service opportunity to host the multi-session classes in an area with potential for earthquakes and other disasters.
