Those who are reading the Book of Mormon with the intent to be finished by year's end, as invited by the First Presidency, will have completed Alma 47 by Oct. 29.
The reading pace suggested by President Gordon B. Hinckley, of a little more than a chapter and a half a day requires reading about 11 chapters a week. Those who are reading by pages will complete about 25 pages a week, and will now be on the same chapter, Alma 47.
The First Presidency Message in the August 2005 Liahona and Ensign magazines invites all members to read the Book of Mormon by the end of the year.
"Those who read the Book of Mormon will be blessed with an added measure of the Spirit of the Lord, a greater resolve to obey His commandments, and a stronger testimony of the living reality of the Son of God," reads the statement.
